The Restaurant Magazine, a British magazine for cooks, restaurateurs and other catering professionals, has presented the annual top 50 best restaurants in the world. There is also a representative of Russia in the ranking, this is the Moscow institution White Rabbit (18th line). And we present to you the first ten gourmet restaurants selected by an international expert jury.
10. Asador Etxebarri, Aspe, Spain
The restaurant is located under the canopy of mountains in a sleepy village near San Sebastian. In an old stone building, you will be served huge juicy shrimps from Palamos, fresh buffalo mozzarella and chorizo sausage. The restaurant chef pays particular attention to frying on an open fire. Have you dreamed about smoked ice cream with a smoky haze? At Asador Etxebarri, dreams come true.
9. Steirereck, Vienna, Austria
Outside, the restaurant building resembles a huge glass cube. And inside you will find an interesting combination of wood, concrete and starched white tablecloths. A table must be reserved three weeks in advance. The portions are small, but “chef's compliments” are brought to visitors between them. No one will go hungry from Steirereck.
8. Narisawa, Tokyo, Japan
Almost all the ingredients used in this restaurant are purely Japanese. The menu includes dishes according to the environment and season, so lunch at Narisawa is a journey into Japanese seasonality and culture. The restaurant serves fine Japanese wines such as Pinot Noir and Riesling Lion.
7. Mugaritz, San Sebastian, Spain
Already the second, but not the last "Spaniard" in the ranking of the best restaurants of 2016. The menu has 20 different dishes. In this restaurant, everything is aimed at surprising and entertaining customers, so get ready to withstand a whole culinary show, which lasts 3-4 hours and is performed immediately for all tables.
6. Mirazur, Menton, France
Could the top 10 best restaurant establishments in the world do without the cuisine of sunny France? The restaurant’s secret weapon is its own farm and a network of suppliers from the market in Ventimiglia, a rich source of delicious vegetables and fresh seafood. The specialty is oysters with tapioca, pear and shallot cream.
5. Noma, Copenhagen, Denmark
Dishes with simple names like apples and lemon thyme, cabbage and whitecurrant leaves, and new Danish potatoes provide a richness in taste and texture that you have hardly experienced before. If you want to visit this restaurant, hurry up: at the end of 2016, the owner plans to close it and open it as a suburban farm.
4. Central, Lima, Peru
Guests of the restaurant are invited to a whole culinary expedition through the ecosystem of Peru, from the Amazon to the Pacific coast. The tasting of the Central menu begins with dishes whose components are found at around 20 meters below sea level. And ends with dishes with ingredients growing at a level of up to 4100 meters above the ground. Peruvian jungle, mountains, desert and sea - decide what you want to taste from the local flora.
3. Eleven Madison Park, New York, USA
The chef of this restaurant often improvises with food, creating fancy personalized dishes. Visitors note very friendly and polite staff in the reviews. The main dish of the restaurant is dry finger duck with its own sauce, wood mushroom and pear. One trouble is small portions, not every Russian person eats them.
2. El Celler De Can Roca, Girona, Spain
The leader of the restaurant rating of 2015. This restaurant, owned by the three brothers of Rock, boasts a wine cellar of 50 thousand bottles, birch trees growing behind glass and a menu with dishes from various cuisines of the world. While smoked ice cream is served at Asador Etxebarri, here you can try asparagus ice cream and olive ice cream. It is brought in a real olive tree in a pot.
1. Osteria Francescana, Modena, Italy
This gourmet restaurant has only 12 tables, and all dishes are unique. The portions are small, but in Osteria Francescana they go to join the world of haute cuisine, and not just to stuff your stomach. The wines served in the institution are made in small Italian wineries specifically for the restaurant.
